Death Of A Nightingale Fund

Many children with special educational needs can never easily enjoy a holiday. They cost too much, and must include a carer.
The Death of a Nightingale Fund within the Community Foundation in Tyne, Wear and Northumberland* provides grants every year to help some of them enjoy a holiday in London or in their nearest capital city.
Words of Thanks
"We had an amazing holiday"
"Me and my family had a fantastic few
days in London" "The grant made a great difference

Tracy's Story
Brighouse School is a special school for physically disabled children. In 2002 steps were taken to close it. Here the story is told through the eyes of Tracy, one of its pupils. Death of a Nightingale is her story.
